Hey guys first post on the forums been around the gtps for a little while now on my third one, anyway the cars a 97 gtp so far I've replaced outter tie rod on drivers side an sway bar end link driver's side. The only way i can explain it is at speeds greater than 40mph on long left hand turns the wheel will give in an out meaning in the middle of a turn the wheel will go back straight again on it's own kinda stumped on the problem.

after you changed the tie rod, did you get it aligned? was it like this before the tie rod was changed?

unless you hit a curb and broke the tie rod, its always a good idea to change them in pairs, left and right side at the same time, if one went bad for no reason, the other is not far behind.

and you should get the front end re aligned after changing tie rod/rods. no matter how close you think you matched it up, its still not 100%.

and then theres the bad tire deal too. you can try rotating the front tires to the rear, rears to the front, see if it drives better.

bad hub can also make the front end feel odd, and make the brakes suck too.

theres a bushing on one side, i want to say pass side. the rack is bolted to the rear sub frame, so dropping the back of the sub frame can help add some room.

never know, a bolt may be missing. there are only 2.

Haven't been on for awhile after I'll got all that rain I had a nice 2 inches of water on the passenger floor an then my wipers broke so I've been fixing a couple other things but a couple new things have popped up/ things I've noticed are bad I'm starting to get a really bad clunk going into gear an on little bumps at low speeds I've also noticed I need new strut mounts pretty bad I think that might be the clunk also I noticed the sway bar bushing on top is ripped I'm thinking its rack cause its all that makes since right now just don't understand how it only does this going one way an I also noticed when it does this the car has major body roll feels like the wheel is flopping around also started to get some pretty bad vibrations at highway speed

i bet your sway bar is broken. your rack didn't hurt the bushings, they wore out.

pop your hood, start the car, watch the engine as you shift it from p to r, then to D, if it moves a lot, your motor mounts are shot.

while the hoods up, with the car running still, rock the steering wheel back and fourth, watch the center of the strut mount, if its moving a lot, the mounts are bad.

truth is, you need to go over your whole front end. lca's also clunk pretty good when bad.

I would suspect sway bar to but it looks brand new I know mounts are bad I can move them by hand newest symptom I have magnasteer an my abs light comes on turn the car off it goes away till I hit another couple hard bumps. Also my engine sits sideways mounts are destroyed I just don't know how it could tie into the steering

test your hubs out, replace the bad one, buy new motor mount, and a trans mount, and sway bushings, and that should get you back in shape.

I have two brand new hubs but previous owner stripped one of the bolts so I can't replace it yet. Do you think if strut mounts are bad enough it'll cause that erratic steering I was going to hold off until I got my lowering springs but as much as I drive a day back to work I need to get it figured out

bad hubs, or bad tie rods. can cause messed up steering.

Well just replaced sway bar bushings so I'm now at bushings 1 new end link and 1 tie rod an I found out the other end link is bad popping is still there but not as bad I've noticed both wheels have play not a lot but I can move both of them a little going to try an replace front wheel bearings an other end link this weekend hopefully if that doesn't fix it I'm going to say its bad rack only other thing it could be unless I can get a for sure that if strut mounts are bad enough it will cause it thanks for the help so far. Also is it possible to switch out magnasteer with a normal rack since I have one already. Forgot to add after I added new end link popping got worse could it be that one is to tight?
