Hey guys. I had visited the forum for some time. I decided on a 2006 GXP which Ill be picking up on Friday. I had been looking for one for some time and found a decent deal. 131k miles, but its very, very clean. I spoke to the previous owner, he was 49 and was his daily driver. Front bumper has chips from highway driving and he said he always kept it well maintained.

    Mods i plan on doing:
    Trans cooler
    Diablo intune
    Slp loudmouth 2 w/no mufflers
    K&n intake
    Stainless steel dual tips
    Led taillights
    Tint all around
    Double din pioneer stereo

My question is what should be the first things I should do to it besides the trans cooler? Spark Plugs? Fuel filter? Other important things. Thanks in advance and I will post more pics over the weekend after a good wash. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1366168009.443841.jpg

    2006 Grand Prix GXP
    Sport Red Metallic, 20% Tint
    Future Mods: Trans Cooler(Ordered)
CAI, Intune with diablew tune, exhaust

Don't do the k&n intake...waste of money just build ur own. Does it still have the stock tranny...I would check the fluid and see how it smells and looks. For spark plugs get some NGK TR6ix with msd wires. Those are 1 heat range cooler but a great improvement

Edit: also debadge the heck out ta that thing...stupid gm

OBX headers, TEP tranny cooler, ls1 IM fuel rails and injectors, ls2 TB, ls7 MAF, full custom exhaust, Quad retro headlights, full out front and rear suspension work, tuned by HPT by me 8====>

Yea it still has the stock tranny. Fluid looked great. Would a flush or anything be recommended, like dropping the pan and changing the filter? Why the NGK? Are they just better? Some have told me to just stick to the ACDELCO ones?

Does the tranny fluid look nice and red and smell good...or does it smell sorta burnt? If its smells fresh a pamny drop, trans go shift kit, and new filter would probably be good for it. Hopefully ya don't find any metal shavings in the pan lol.
Why NGK...cause the engine loves them way better. Stick are fine but the NGK ones I just told u will be fantastic and are a colder plug but the 5.3 likes it way better than stock and the msd wires have way less resistance than stock ones. Stock ones are around 351ohms and MSD are around 70ish ohms.

Edit: o and a oil catch can would be very beneficial

Tranny fluid looked nice and red and it did not smell burnt at all. I will keep the ngk in mind when doing the tune up and the msd wires. Thanks.

Edit: yes I had heard about the catch can too, I forgot to put that on my mod list.

Maybe lower it to...just my opinion I'm gonna lower mine. For the NGK plugs u can check out a thread on gmls4.com where they talked about them.

Sure i will once I do it lol. My plans are to do what many do. Cut the mufflers and straight pipe it w/ new tips and put the muffler in place of the resonator. Ive ordered the slp loudmouth 2 for a couple of my buddies,of course for different vehicles, and it sounds really good.

Welcome to the forums. There has been an influx of GXP's in the Milwaukee area recently it seems. If you're interested in a local tune, I have a shop that does really good tuning work. They're located in Waukesha.

i always took LMT as more of an LS shop than the L67, but i suppose they could probably get you in the ball park.

Well, we do have an LS platform (LS4). LMT can tune all kinds of cars though. Highly recommend LMT.
