Ok first things first this is my first post.

I have been looking around for a car to buy and i fell inlove with the GTP. It has power and looks good. Everything i want, so i found one that had a few problems so i got it cheap and now i am working on it. When i first drove it i knew that there was something wrong with my suspension. but i figured hey no biggy. The next day when i had it home i was looking around on it and i lift it in the air the bottom has rust so i sprayed it to try and prevent more. Then when i ripped the driver side tire off i saw that the spring on my strut was trashed (broke a complete circle off it) i knew what was wrong. So i am gonna buy four new ones and put all the way around. Then i changed my oil and back brakes. When i started it after a minute or two it started making a bell ringing noise in the bottom of the motor which it wasnt doing when i checked the car out. It just started after i changed the oil. I put synthedic in it and the right weight. So i took it around the block and it drove fine. Barely lit into it and it laid black for 4ft. So long story short can someone help me figure out what that sound is???

(i bought this car for a project and to mod but did i buy the wrong one?)

How much oil did you put in it? Where are you located in IN? I have struts you could throw on it to take care of that broken one.

Can you make a video of the sound by chance? I've never really heard of an engine making a bell ringing sound.

i can tomorrow but you cant really hear it when your looking down the motor and your standing infront of it but if you get near the wheel well you can hear it it sounds like a bell ringing i thought i was a loose rocker arm or something but i cant be that because you cant hear it ontop of the motor and when i am standing at the back driver side wheel well it makes a sound that sounds like a exhaust leak?

If you want someone to look it over I'm about 45 min from you. You can drive it up and I'll check it over for you.

i am thinking about taking it to someone with more experience than me lol i am all self taught and still learning i was just hoping maybe someone had a idea of where i could start. I have to fix everything is wrong and make a strong base before i can start modding lol.

What weight of oil did you use? Did you put in any additives? What fuel did you fill up with on your way home?

Great to hear. Ok, so we've ruled out driver error. A lot of people can't seem to read.

Slutty Smutty would be a great guy to have look it over. It's a shame you can't make it to him.

Yeah i dont think i did anything wrong but i dont see what is wrong lol it drives fine. The only thing that has changed is that when you idle it stays at 900 rpms. Is that normal for these cars?

Warm idle at park is around 700-800. Say the tach is a touch off. In gear you should be 650-700ish.

Can you hear that noise all the time? If so.. pull the valve cover cap off while it' running.

ok ill try that today like i can slightly hear it inside the car at idle but when your driving you cant i dont know if it is because the car is a lil louder or if it is because it isnt there. i see if i can hear it today.

maybe when i get the struts replaced i found the ones i want lol. I also figured out what was wrong. I was talking to one of my car buddies and he told me to check all my pulleys and see where that gets me. So i go out after work and check them and about half way there i notice my battery wires are cut, i start looking and my belt was cuttingh them like a chain saw. (explains why my belt is frayed)
