Hey all! I'll just start by saying my name is Geoff Seymour and I live in a small town called Zillah in Washington state. I am 21 years old with a little knowledge about cars, enough to get me by when talking with my group of friends who built their cars from the ground up. I am a proud owner of a 2006 Grand Prix GXP. Recently I cut the mufflers off welded in pipes, but I kept the cats and the resonator on out of fear that I wouldn't have enough back flow to keep my HP the same. My car was a response to my dad purchasing a Honda s2000 in place of his 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula. I have plans to race his "baby" knowing that he will kick my ass in the turns, but straight away it would be a pretty close match. I joined the forum to mainly ask quastions about some issues I am having with the car. Despite the issues, I am very happy with owning a GP.

    Welcome.

The whole back pressue thing is a myth, the car will make around 1 psi or less of back pressure. It is still best that you keep your cat converter and resonator, the car needs the cat to run properly stock for fueling and the res keeps rasp and drone down in the exhaust.

So I could upgrade my 2 inch pipes up to 2.5 inch pipes with no problem? Most of the exhaust is 2.5 inch, but right where the mufflers were, they shrink down to 2inch pipes.
