Re: Looking for fuel pump help?
I'm just about ready to give up. The car ran fine last night when we replaced the relay fuse. I drove it around to make sure it was okay, and ran beautifully. We turn it on today, and it turns on and then shuts right back off. My boyfriend managed to get it to stay on for a few seconds when he pushed the gas pedal to the ground when it started, but nothing after that. Thought it might be gas, but when we put gas in it, still nothing. Any thoughts now? Same problem, or new one completely? At least it starts now, but it shuts off right after. Ugh@!#
Re: Looking for fuel pump help?
could be a fuel pressure regulator. its on the fuel rail. check for fuel pressure at the rail.

Don't give up. You can rent a fuel pressure testing kit from the auto parts store. Hook this up to the valve under the hood (there will be a black cap on it). See what the pressure is when you turn the key on (but don't start). Turn the key off after the fuel pressure stabilizes and watch the fuel pressure for a minute. See what it does. Start the car and see what the fuel pressure does. Try to do this and get a reading when the car starts and when it doesn't start.
As mentioned above, it could be the fuel pressure regulator or something else. Seeing what the fuel pressure does will help narrow down the possibilities. I believe I read above that you replaced the fuel filter. If you haven't, I would do this before going any further.

Did you bend the tab? I know you replaced the relay, but it's worth a try...

Re: Looking for fuel pump help?
All of the sudden it's working fine. We managed to start it, and we took it to AutoZone and found out the battery had a bad negative terminal..so maybe it's completely unrelated to the problems I was having before...oh man I just love having a car lol. Thank you for your awesome help guys I really appreciate it you've helped me immensely =) I'll be back if Betsy gives me more problems, I'm sure! lol

Re: Looking for fuel pump help?
its nice to read up on the how to section as well, that way when something starts to go bad you may already know whats wrong by reading other posts and how to's. and wont get to excited/ pissed off because you already know how to fix it via a thread you found.
