05 GP mp3 radio or Navigational system

I recently purchased my 05 grand prix that has the mp3 radio. What exactly does the mp3 mean. I know its a format but what do the 3 and 6 buttons with the folder icons do? Also i have been thinking about replacing it with the factory navigation system. Would this be a smart choice or is it even compatible with my 05. I have not looked up pricing or anything on the nav system, i was just considering it.

Hi. New member here. Just bought an '05 GTP with the Nav system. I would think you could swap it. I burned some CDS to play in the deck. They worked after some trial and error. No MP3 input to play my IPhone. Nav system is alright. Has voice activation, but you have to press the "talk" button. I use my IPhone for maps. But the Nav system does look cool!

Thanks ill have to look into the nav system. Ive also been thinking about installing an ipod integration cable so i can use my radio instead of a fm transmiter due to the sound quality.
