I have been a back yard mechanic most of my life. Changed some manual transmissions, cam shafts, heads & rebuilt carbs and all the standard things needing to be replaced and tuneups.
I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT 180000 miles. Just had the trans rebuilt and they broke a ground strap, which I found out by driving the car and all the electronics flashing, lights going dim and back to normal for two weeks. Took it back and they fixed the strap which took care of everything except the security light on the dash flashes for about 1/2 hour after you start the car and drive it. Everything else works fine, just the flashing security light. The owners manual and Haynes manual are no help, so here I am. Can any one help. I haven't removed any fuses or anything because the fear of making something else go bad/wrong is not in the $$$$$. Thanks for reading and any help you may have.
