When you dropped the pan and changed the filter. Was it full of pieces or just the normal coating of clutch dust?

Sounds a lot like a clogged filter. There's a few different things that could be at play though. Bad apply piston seal, gasket in the channel plate area blown out. etc.

Unfortunately I'm unsure which sensor to suggest because there's only two and neither can cause you to have no gear engagement in either forward or reverse. As well, of your engine sensors, they can't do that either. They would cause banging into gear, delayed shifting...stuff like that.

Now, let's consider how this transmission works. It's all based off hydrauilics and fluid. Without fluid, no workie. Things that can cause this, bad channel plate gasket, broken pump shaft....See where I'm going with this?

A clogged flilter will typically drop enough crap off it when you turn the car off and restart to allow it to move a little before the filter clogs again. What was the old filter clogged with? Metal is about the only thing I've seen clog filters and obviously that's not a good thing.
