Hi, I just picked up my first Grand Prix the other day. Its a loaded 98 GTP Sedan, white with black leather interior. It has 168000 kms on it (Canadian). I got it for what I thought was a pretty good price at $2000.

The car does have a few issues and if anyone could send me in the right direction on fixing them that would be great. I have tried searching here but have had no luck, most stuff I have found has been for the 04+ cars. Here is the stuff I would like to fix, myself if at all possible.

HUD - can here the motor but there is no display - All searches I have done on this come up with fixes for the 04 and up cars.
TCS off - will not turn on. ABS light is not on. All searches on this come up with TCS & ABS light on problems (wonder if maybe my abs light is just burnt out possibley?)
Radio - Display light is out - again searches just bring up info for the 04+ cars. I have ordered a new light bulb, just need a guide on how R&R the radio.

Also hearing a gravely sound when the car is at idle. Searches indicate that this could either be the coupler or bearings in the super charger. Is there any way to tell which of these it is for sure?

    Thanks for your time
    Jamie

    HUD - no clue.

TCS off - wheel speed sensor or hub.

Radio - remove radio, take out old bulb, solder in new bulb.

Gravely sound - If it sounds like rocks grinding, it's the coupler.

Welcome. Sounds like a good deal if its in good shape and no rust. All those problems are pretty trivial, the coupler and wheel speed sensor/hub are common maintenance problems.

Ok I will post a few pictures. They are not great, bumper has some peeling in them which I have since fixed but no pictures since.

Have noticed something else with the car, occasionally the cruise stops working. Is there supposed to be a light on the dash when you have cruise on? Also I think my abs isn't working to go along with the TCS light on because the brakes will lock up in the snow. Where in the panel is the abs light?

Have also ordered all the parts to do the LIM, I can smell burnt oil occasionally while drive the car so I am going to do most of the top end gaskets.

Here are a few pictures, again the bumper etc have been touched up since these were taken.

I am also looking at getting some rims for it. There are a set of 17's and 20's for sale locally for a good price but I would rather get 18's. I am looking into getting 3.5" dual outlet exhaust tips as well.

Picked up a 2000 GTP for parts. Its got pretty bad rod knock, I was able to drive it home though. Its black with black leather interior. Body and interior are in nice shape. One thing I like that mine does not have is the sunroof. Its to bad it has almost 60,000 more kms on it then mine or I would consider pulling the motor from mine and putting it in that one. My white car has some hail damage that this car does not have though.

It is a pretty good looking car, almost a shame to part it out. To bad about the 15" steel wheels and tires though lol.
