Havent done by myself since I had a GMC pickup, where exactly is the drian plug and what size is it? I ask because I googled it and the answers were 15mm, I thought we had found it right in the middle back part. I see the filter behind the passenger front wheel, I went and got supplies as well as a 15mm wrench that was too big. Not much for tools at home (yet) have just been buying stuff per job.

The plug we found was red? is there a chance that Mr Quick Lube shop colored it? I have been bringing it to them 2 x year for last 5 years, and finally decided to do it myself.

15 mm or a 9/16 th should also fit, try a 14 mm if the 15 dont fit. or good old adjustable wrench will do.

you will need 5 quarts of oil too. the parts stores all have been having oil change sales, around 20 for 5 quarts and a filter.

fill the new filter with oil then screw it on, make sure you wipe some oil on the filter O ring as well. then screw it on till it stops, then a 1/4 turn more, should be good. dont ape it on.

you may need a filter wrench to get the old filter off.

Yep, many oil change places including Wally World and such put colored goop on the drain plug mainly as a tamper seal.
FWIW what Scotty said x2, but I want to add a warning. I'd bet my next pay check both your drain plug and oil filter are monkeyed on big time so be prepared to deal with it

97-04 are 15mm and 05+ are 13mm drain plugs IIRC.

If you have the aluminum oil pan the drain plug is smaller size I believe.
