    I'm sorry, welcome to the nightmare that is the 97 GP.... 97's are the odd ball year with many 1 off parts.

    It isn't that bad of a car it needs a lil bit of work. But for 1200 I don't think I done too bad. Dont really know the ins and out bout these cars that's one of the reasons I got on this forum

    Hard to beat for that price. If it's in any decent shape, you'll be fine. Welcome to GPF.
    Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
    Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
    Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

    Has a brake issue and a lil rust bubble by the gas door and the sunroof doesn't work. Other than that the car seems pretty solid

    ive had issues with my breaks on my 97 gtp....isnt fun

    Tell me about it. My last car was a 97' Grand Am GT, had same issue. Pushing a 01 GP GT now.
