Wassup guys, just joined this past week and already introduced myself but heres a lil more. the silver gt in the pic is my old grand prix, traded it for an 04 gtp in the same color. The questions i have are a few that i have researched a bit around here. to start off im looking to drop to a 3.6in pulley. from what ive found the supporting mods are as follows......

    Plugs/wires
    Downpipe
    Intake
    Tune
Thermostat.....if im missing anything let me know.

After looking around it looks like i might be better off just doing headers to prepare for further modification. Pretty much i jst wanna know what you guys would reccomend/have done with this first step.

    Thanks in advanced, Nick

Plugs are more of a maintence item, if they have never been done, do them.

605 copper core plugs will suffice for that pulley range.

A thermostat drop is not needed, you are better off with the stock thermostat for what your needs are.

A tune is also not a "must" but does help is some parts. The stock tune should be rich enough to support that pulley drop, its just codes and fan settings that can be changed to further help you. If you are scanning the car with a scangauge, it can tell how the car is doing and thus another way to see if the car may need some help with a tune.

As said before, I would get a scangauge of some sorts, I prefer the Aeroforce because its easy to use and is an actual gauge and not a stupid phone app for cars. Its kind of cheaply made but works pretty dam good.

Headers are not a must, but by far the best exhaust mods for the car. You can do a PLOG and 3in Downpipe, but the cost can get up there in the range of headers. Leave the catback stock, you gain nothing from changing that.

I was eying up the aeroforce scan gauge the past couple days, and after seeing the mod of installing it in the ac vent im sold! ive only had the gtp for two weeks now so ive been doing nothing but research. Idk how far I'm going to take this thing, it has 90,000 miles on it with one owner that meticulously maintained the car. i wanna get the most out of it i can without throwing a piston, i would like to intercool but its a bit pricy to me. I will say i love these cars, the silver gt in the photo was my first car. had it 5 years, got it with 86k and traded it with 170k, i will say i miss it! back on topic i was looking at the plog and ported rear mani with a downpipe vs the headers and just cant seem to decide. From looking around with the gen V blower and series three motor they dont want you dropping below 3.6 without rockers and valve springs correct?

and as far as headers go i just got done reading the whole writeup on them, and after all that i still can decide. obviously i will get netter flow with headers, but with only dropping to a 3.5, maybe 3.5 will headers be necessary? obviously i gotta scan for kr and see what i come up with with a 3.6 and supporting mods installed.

    3.6 = 3.4 for 97-03 cars.

Valve train mods are really never needed depending on what you want to do and how fast you want to spin the motor.

You can drop to a 3.2/3.4(V) without rockers with ease if you wanted.

Say you cammed the motor, then you'd need upgraded valve springs to handle it.

my plan is to go with a MPS. i want to start off with a drop to a 3.6 with some supporting mods and go from there. if i come up with 0 KR then i wanna try and drop to a 3.5. What do you think is needed for a drop to 3.5? sorry for all the questions, im new to the S/C side of the grand prix world lol.
