I have a 04 Grand prix GT. It runs rough sometimes and the code checker says its fuel filter and cat. So. instead of spending a lot of money on a new cat/cats. Can i just strait pipe over it? Would that fix it? or just cause more problems?
    Thanks guys!

Can you straight pipe it.. Yes. Should you.. NO... With no res it will sound like butt. If you wanna get rid of the cat you need to get the rear O2 sim.

I've never seen a car throw a code for a fuel filter. If you give us the code numbers we could help you out a lot more.

Well a buddy of mine is a mechanic. He has a high tech computer code checker.. He said thats what it said. Would it really sound that bad? Is there any other way of Not spending a boat load of money on cats?

Car will run worse with no cat converter.

    04+ cant use a o2 sim.

    Buy a new cat.

can you run with no cat, yes. should you? if you can still pass emissions without it then why not but you will have to take great care of your engine in order to do this.

fivefingerdeathpunch...would no cat actually cause it to run worse? that doesnt make sense to me since guys buy catless downpipes to get more power.

well a cat obstructs airflow somewhat. if you have enough other mods its bounds to make somewhat of a difference.

The WBody cat...betting it isn't clogged like they always do...

Aren't a restriction at all...you'll gain 1~ WHP...if that...deleting it. The main reason most people delete the cat is for sound and the peace of mind it'll never clog.

    That's it.

The temperature change outside has more gains for your car than deleting the cat.

So no, the only thing you'll be getting is noise.

Yes his car would run worse and get terrible gas mileage.

All 01+ cars use the rear o2 for diag and fueling of sorts in the PCM, if it has so cat all the readings will be wrong and thus dump fuel.

So then if you get a hi-flow cat would that then effect your gas mileage? or no because you still have a cat on there?

Isnt that what the rear O2 sim does, it simulates a working cat so the car diagnostics works... 97-00 dont need the sim just have an SES light till it gets tuned out. 01+ have Cat Diagnostics and NEED the O2 sim to go catless or else yes the computer dumps fuel.

Most if not all highflow cats will still set the SES off because it flows too well.

They say that 01-03 can use the sim, but it doesnt always work, and 04+ cant use a sim, because it wont work at all.

    OP's car is 04.

I didn't know that it only works on 01-03 cars... I assumed all cars that have the Cat Diagnostics it would work on.
