I just bought me a 95' Grand Prix SE coupe with the 3.1 motor. 147k on the clock and a recent transmission replacement. Im here just to learn about these older (and I think cool looking) Pontiacs.

Im not looking to race or do anything like that Im just here to feed on the loads of technical know how so I can keep this thing going another 50k miles.

    Welcome to GPF!

Another 50k shouldn't be a problem, you might even get another 150k out of it.

You have an 86 Monte Carlo SS Project? When I was 16 (or was it 18?) I had an 87 SS with a GM zz4 crate motor! I love that body style Monte! Wish I could find a nice clean one.

Nice! G-bodies are a great platform. I found this one as a rust free roller, so I couldn't pass it up. I put a 5.3L LSx (LM7) in it, and I'm going to pair that with a 4L80E. I'm hoping its ready to run by a track day towards the end of October, then I'd like to turbo it next year.

The ZZ4 is definately a nice engine as well.

Yeah that was back in the 90s when LS motors were still so new they cost an arm and a leg.
