This is good advice if I didnt already state I already had the car. I wasnt aware I was buying someone elses project. If it were a real gtp it would have been stock, but now that I have the car and there isnt anything I can do about it, im looking for good advice on what my next step should be. If you cant give that to me then feel free to just back out of this thread. I will add a scan gauge to the list as well.

    Hah, alright.

    Here's what I would do.

Until you at the minimum have a way to scan it, remove the blower belt and drive it...Aeroforce is the way to go. Also, read the link in my signature to learn some more if you're wondering.

    Get a wideband, next.

    Then, buy some headers.

Have a stock pulley put on if you don't have one, for reference it is a 3.8".

See where you're at there. Should be able to run knock free on an L36 with headers/rockers with ease. Then you might be able to toss a 3.5"/3.6" on it.

Oh and also YT rockers came with their own pushrods, at a custom legnth, so there should be no need for Crow ones.

but the only other things that might give it away would be to look at the doors and see when it was de-badged where the paint faded, if it's in the size/shape of a GTP badge or a Grand Prix GT badge.

The only way to confirm the identity of the short block is to inspect rods/pistons.

Neither is an easy or cheap task.

Don't need to "run" the vin.

    Eight digit is the engine digit, if 1 = L67, K = L36, J = dirty one hundred.

Thank you everyone for the awesome advice. The 8th vin digit is a k which confirmed the car is not a GTP. I will remove the supercharger belt untill I can get a scan gauge and headers. I wish I would have removed the wideband from my previous vehicle before I got rid of it. The car seems to have kind of a lopey idle. Could the rockers cause this? or should I be searching for what is causing it?
