New guy here, bought a 2004 grand prix about 6 months ago, 130k on the clock, good running car.

Always like the 3800 so wanted another one.

I currently own a 1999 Mustang thats been swapped to a 5.3LS engine backed up by a powerglide transmission and a big borg warner turbo hanging out front. Owned a 2004 pontiac GTO before that as well.

Anyway, dropping in to do some research, its leaking water from somewhere, appears to be the water pump or something above it maybe. very weird.

When i bought it, the guy i got it from pointed out a new elbow or something that he had replaced due to some issues with it, had to do with the coolant system. This new leak appears to be in that area.

    Pics of said rides

    The Grand Prix

My pride and Joy. and a pic of the gto i had a for a few years and built up as well

    the GTO

Welcome! Sorry to hear you're having issues with the GP, but there are plenty of people here to help! Sounds like it could be the coolant elbow which goes from the lower intake manifold to the accessory tensioner bracket. They're notorious for breaking/leaking.

    Pics of ride(s)?

So when is a turbo going on the GP?

Awesome cars btw. The guy is probably referring to the coolant elbow which is attached the LIM and tensioner assembly.

Turbo on the GP? I dont know, i did help build a rearmount on a friends 2005 GXP lol, Yes, we love our turbos here! Everything deserves a turbo!

I doubt we will turbo this car though, its the wifes car now and she drives it everyday, lol

and yes, we are talking about that coolant elbow dealio, just saw it pissing fluid a few minutes ago, Hittman said "easy fix" lol.. So im gonna track down the part and give it a whirl.

I wouldn't go with the Autozone ones. They don't like to last very long. I would check these out though. Dorman revised them recently. Now they're aluminum.

I've had no problems using the dorman ones from az. But if i had to buy some i'd get the aluminum ones.

The aluminum ones are more of a long term solution IMO. I still have the plastic one in mine...hasn't given me any issue.
