Hello, my name is Dan. I bought my first Grand Prix this past monday, and came upon your site while searching google for a fix to my rusting strut towers. Figured I would go ahead and sign-up. So... hello!

Rusted strut towers...they certainly are fixable...here's some pics of the way we started to fix it.

First, started by drilling out the spot welds on the rear strut plate:

Then here's the plate out of the car:

From here, replace rusted metal with good thick heavy gauge metal (no pics,) repair and reinstall the rear strut plate, and seam seal and rust proof the hell out of it. It can be done...it's not too cheap (my dad did mine because he is the effing man) but if you have the ability to do it or know someone who can for cheap, then this is the easiest way IMO to do it.

I wish I had pics of the finished result, but won't until late next week or next weekend.

Thanks to all of you. After watching the youtube video of how to fix, which was very close to what I had in mind, I am very optimistic. Im fairly mechanically inclined, so with a borrowed welder, and a good day or two, I should have it better than new in notime! Thanks for all the suggestions. Got the car road legal today, and am in love with it!
