    Not sure really..

I'd find the wiring harness to both motors and see if everything is the same...I don't see why it would be that much different...they are both 60* V6's with just displacement differences IIRC.

I'd hop on over to the 60* V6 forum for more info brutha.

The engine will work in your application. Just reuse the enigne brackets on your car. Depending on what car the 3.1 was previously in, it could have different brackets on it. no biggie though just swap them over. Also you need to change out the prom chip in the ecm with one from a 3.1. that way the calibration wont be off when you swap.

    From a 3.1 ECU?

    That's my guess.

true im just wondering would i need the whole ecu or just the chip cause some other forums say that they used everything from the 2.8 except the injectors so would that work or would i still need the other prom chip?

Just get the prom chip from the car the 3.1 came out from. Its not hard to switch out.
Yes everything else is the same between the engines except for the injectors and having a different displacement.
You still need the prom due to it having different values for the air flow tables for the larger displacement.
