Hello all, just came across this forum. My fiance and I have been looking for an upgrade from her 05 dodge neon. At 95k the whole front end was in need of a rebuild, and I finally convinced her to let it go. Today we traded it in and got an 04 Grand Prix GTP. It has higher mileage at 103k, but I know from working at a local chevy dealer several years ago that the 3800 was a solid motor. This car is a huge upgrade for us, so much more power, and almost all of the options. Leather, heated seats, power everything. I drove it around all evening with a huge grin on my face. This car is just really fun to drive, and was the only 4 door that I really liked the looks of other than the Bonneville. And having an (almost) 3 year old a 4 door is a necessity. Of course after test driving it, and driving it all day I didn't hear a clunk squeal or anything. Until she (my fiance) got in the car and said she heard a whine. After looking around a bit it sounded like it was coming from the gas tank. I jiggled the fuel lines a bit and it quieted down, but is still there. I am guessing its the fuel pump? Looks like there is an access panel in the trunk. Is it a fairly easy fix? I know the pump looks expensive (in the 300 range at the parts store) Any suggestions or thoughts on this would be appreciated.
I am a bit of a car guy, I am a member of the local Mopar club in Kansas City. On newer cars I prefer GM stuff though, so don't completely hate me, lol. I have a 65 Fury 2 door hard top that I am currently restoring, so I am not completely unfamiliar with a wrench. But there newer cars are a bit intimidating with all the electrical stuff.
Anyway, looking forward to maybe doing a few mods on this car at some point to give it a bit more zip. But until we restore the money I took out of our savings to buy the car, it is staying stock.
