I very recently purchased a 2002 Grand Prix GTP Coupe, dark blue and loaded....a car I've wanted to own for a long time. I've had a dry spell when it came to "fun" cars...17 years without a toy. In the late 70's and and 80's, muscle cars were bought and sold for a fraction of what they go for now and I've owned quite a few. From a 70 Torino Cobra (429 SCJ, shaker, 4 spd) to a 6 cylinder - FWD...I never thought I'd see the day! But honestly, I'm really excited about this project...the potential this motor has with just bolt ons and tuning boggles the mind. I have short and long term goals set and now that all the maintenance is done, I'm ready to start modding! I'm having some annoying noise in the motor. I originally thought it was the S/C coupler...so I pulled it apart, doing lower intake (leaking and broken gaskets), valve cover gaskets, coupler, and a complete tune/wires. Everyone was soooo sure it was the coupler...not. A very stuck lifter. So, as long as it's coming apart again, my first mods will be Terra 1.9 roller rockers/pushrods kit, LS6 springs, Manley retainers, and OE-R Lifters. I'll look for the proper thread and post a full list of goodies being added during this next trip to the garage.

So, that's my story and I'm stickin to it! Looking forward to getting to know all of you and exchanging ideas/info...probably allot of me asking questions at first but I'm a quick study and willing to contribute anywhere I can.

    Hi new guy...

Do yourself a favor if you don't like noises, don't do the OE-R lifters. Get a set of LS7 lifters (they are the replacement for the stockers). OE-R's don't have the preload of a stocker, therefore often they make noise when the pushrods are measured and redone etc etc.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
