im a new owner of a 2001 gtp and the tranny just went on it. i was wondering if the cars have a problem with going through transmissions, i also plan to put alot of mods into it and boost the power. so i was just wondering if this would be a good idea with a stock transmission because i cant afford another one anytime soon?

If you cant afford transmission repairs, than it would be a good idea to drive conservative with it, no burnouts or hard launches. Even normal use can take its toll on a stock transission with lots of miles. Keep the fluid under normal temperatures, regular maintanace with filter and fluid change can help.

well i have a brand new transmission in it with only 2000 miles now but its a regular run of the mill transmission and im a 19 yr old kid i do have a tendency to beat on it to show off, im just wondering if it will last at least 2 or 3 years when i can afford a better one. i also want to get my GTP to have like 300hp and like 350lbs of tourque will the tranny be able to handle this?

id start with basics; headers, 3.4 pulley, tune, and intake
the tranny should hold that power fine and then if your still looking for more power go from there.

It'll hold up to 270-280 CHP fine for a long while. Once you hit the 300 CHP I'd say the trans is on borrowed time if you like romping on it. But who knows, maybe it wont break for a long time or maybe it will.
