    Here's the spill... I have a 2004 Pontiac GP GT1 with a K&N air filter and a set of Thrust Exhaust (The RoadRunner icon from back in the day) other than that it pretty much stock. I am looking for way to modify my GP, and I have read a few threads and I like what I have read so far. I must say that I am not very mechanically inclined so most of my mod work will be done by someone else. A few of my up and coming projects will be definetly changing the spark plug & wires, I like the thought of making a custom cold air intake system (I know the thread said it is easy, but I fear that I might break something rather than improve my cars performance), cooler thermostat, the Powerlog front mainfold and hopefully the headers. As a newbie to the forum and the moddding of cars I will have to get use to the jargon, but I am excited. This forum has been helpful already by giving me a direction to go to get the most out of my car.

    Leave your thermostat stock.

    Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
    Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
    Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

    Welcome.

    You will have to pick which one you want to do for the powerlog or headers, you cant do both. And just keep the stock thermostat, no need to go colder.
