I'm thinking about putting in a supercharger in my 97 grand prix Gt but everyone is says I'm nuts if I do that. Is it really a bad idea to do that? I have couple of little problems well for one like everytime I hit a nice size bump on the road or I peal out on days when the road is wet like my abs and my tire pressure light comes on and I can't seem to figure out why? I am thinking maybe one the senors is going. I feel dumb but I notice when my abs light is on my traction control doesn't kick in. Traction control could of save me from spinning out on the highway when it snowed pretty badly here. JjAlso another issue is that when I'm driving on the highway I hear a noise like something is loose as hell but it only makes noise when I go faster then 75mph. The noise is coming from what I can hear the right rear wheel area it might be the brake or the exhaust system in that area. So let me know what you guys think alright.

Abs and tsc are a linked system. Like the 3rd barks light and cruise control

Alright thanks guys, i know this is a dumb question and this is my first car also but how do u perform a good maintenance on your car besides checking and replacing the spark plugs and changing the old and oil filter and rotating the tires

Start searching, reading until your eyes bleed and learn all you can. At this point I think it would be a big mistake for you to supercharge your motor. You would be better off learning and gaining the understanding about motors/cars etc before you jump into such a project.

i agree with billboost. if you dont have the knowledge of basic maintenance then you dont need to tackle any modifications at all. if you have that extreme desire for more power then find someone who can do the work for you and maybe teach you some things along the way.

well I do read understand motors i read about it everyday, and so today i found out that when i looked when i kept on hearing noise when I go over 75mph I now know what that noise is its the one of the exhaust brackets had broke at the weilding point and it just kept on hitting my ebrake cable thats maybe why the abs light always came on, And when i bought the car the it already had aftermarket flowmaster exhaust system the guy didnt take good enough care of the car its like never washed the car there is some super some grey spots that u cant really see and there is rust starting to form in little areas im like ugh i ****ing hate rust on my paint, and i gotta have the tint and my window redone and gotta get a new side mirror cause the motor on the mirror won't let it go up or down it just can go side to side and i have to look on ebay for a red side mirror.the guy was subbing to hard.

The hanger on the ebrake cable has nothing to do with the abs. The ABS is controlled via a computer and uses the sensors in all four wheel hubs. My first thought when you mentioned it was that one hub or the wiring leading to the hub was bad.

Are you talking about the abs sensor or the wiring leading to the sensor sorry i am dumb just so i have a better understanding of what u mean .

I talked about it possibly being either one of the sensors or one of the wiring leads. The ABS sensor is integral to the wheel hub and can't be replaced seperately. Depending on your year, a handheld scanner may or may not be able to read the wheel sensor codes. I think 2000 was the first year they could be read easily.

One way to check the earlier cars for a wheel sensor and this isn't an exact science..but use an ohm meter between the two leads and look for the one that is much different than the others. The wiring isn't quite as easy. might be a dirty connection, might be a pulled wire etc..

Yeah I use my step uncles on my car when the abs light was on and it didnt find anything at all and i still gotta fix the ****ing cable for the srs air bag in the passenger air bag.

On your 97, you need a serious scanner, say a Tech2, Snap On MT2500 etc. Those can view each wheel speed and all the body codes. I have HPT and in my 2000 the PCM stores either a U or B code for the sensor that it sees as bad. I don't think that is built into your year.

I found the wire the cause the light to come on while I was doing the rear brakes the right ones and I saw a cable and it was the cable that caused the light to go on and the cable didn't have any kind of protection over it and it was broken at the connection part.
