Hello from sunny Central Texas. My wife is the proud owner of the 2001 Grand Prix GT below with the Special Edition trim package (special wheels, hood vents, specific spoiler, two-tone seats and grey dash trim, door panel metal emblems, and roof rails).

The car is from Dallas and has been in Texas it's entire life. Zero rust, clean interior, good paint, just a nice looking Grand Prix. We got it last year, with 140K miles on it, and it has 150K on it now, and is my wife's daily driver. Even with those high miles it's been a good reliable car and we get comments on it often.

I am having a stalling issue now, and found this forum in hopes of solving the problem. Will post about that in the correct section. For now, here's some pics of the car:

I'm a huge GM fan, despite the fact that the idiots killed Pontiac and Oldsmobile, two of my favorite brands. Here's some pics of all our driver's together. I also have a '67 GTO basket-case that's in line for a restoration. Gotta have toys! The Cutlass is a 1988 model and the Roadmaster wagon is a 1996. The wagon is my daily driver and the Cutlass is the weekend cruiser.

Anyway glad to have found this forum and hope to be active here.

Stay safe and keep them on the road!

    -Mike

We got the car from my in-laws, my mother-in-law was the original owner. They were about to trade it in and offered it to us, and I jumped on it. I've known the car since day one, it was never abused and always garaged, and yes the fact that it's got all the somewhat unique SE trim but is just a GT and not a GTP is neat (though I wish it was Supercharged!).

I've slowly been going through it and replacing all the normal mileage-related wear and tear items. I had to do the oil pan gasket, which was a PAIN, and also had a power steering leak that I thought was just a hose, then the pump, and it finally turned out to be the rack. Ouch. I also had a vibration on the highway that was mis-diagnosed as bad drive axles and turned out to be a bad tire (DOH!).

The paint on the car is still really pretty, but my mother-in-law tended to be a bit of a tailgater so the front bumper has a lot of tiny rock clips in it, as do the headlights, so I'm planning to have the bumper painted and am going to put headlights in it soon.

Other than that, and the stalling issue I mentioned above, about the only other things on the list are some new struts and shocks in the future...it kind of bangs over bumps (but then again my other drivers are the Roadmaster and Cutlass, and both those are soft...), and finding a good set of radio buttons for the steering wheel, ours are worn.

I love Pontiacs and hope to keep this one on the road for a long time to come.

    Take care all!

    -Mike

    Thanks again

Haha, I had the same thing happen. Replaced everything that would cause it, and would still get a vibration only between 60-70mph. I figured there was no way it was the tires since they only had 10k miles on them. I replaced the tires and the vibration was gone.

Here's a pic of the underside of my 16-year-old Roadmaster wagon daily-driver. Remember, salt is for cocktails and popcorn, not roads! And GOD BLESS TEXAS!

Thanks. I'm in the process of pulling the 307 out and putting in a rebuilt 71 Olds 350. Such fun!
