Hello all.
Just joined this forum at the recommendation of a friend of mine. Lots of great information on here but as a newbie I'm having trouble locating some troubleshooting information.
I've owned my 08 GXP for about 2 months. Bought it with 53k miles and it has 55k on it now. Yesterday while sitting at a stoplight, the engine felt like it started to miss. It was hardly noticeable, every 3-4 seconds, but enough to kick on the CE light. After moderate acceleration away from the intersection, the car was running normal, but after reaching the highway speeds, I noticed the TCC solenoid was not locking up. RPMs at 60mph are about 2100 (higher than normal). Instant mileage on the DIC was 17-ish, much lower than what I am used to seeing, which seems to indicate I was still running on 8 cylinders instead of four (a result of the TCC, I would assume).
Driving it today it was acting the same as yesterday. Minor missing while stopped and in gear, no miss while driving.
When I got home tonight I plugged in my OBD II scanner to find out what code was set, and it failed to read. So I unplugged it, took it to my wife's 07 Trailblazer, plugged it in and it instantly hooked up and read diagnostics. So I took it back to the GXP, plugged it in, and it failed to read any codes.
So I'm looking for some insight. First I'm at a loss as to why my scanner is not working. Second, since I can't get any codes, is there something I should be looking for? My first thought is replacing the PCV valve, but I doubt my luck will be that good. Are there any things known to go bad on these cars?
Thanks.
Kirk.
