Well I am only here for a friend. She owns a 2005 base model Grand Prix, no GTP, GXP, GT, just an average Grand Prix.

She has been trying to get into the modding game, and I am helping her with everything because I don't want to see another riced out car on the streets. Just trying to see what kind of mods you guys do to these models of the GP. I am more looking for bolt ons at this point to get her started. I was thinking maybe gears and a tune (depending on how easy a tune is for these cars) I myself own a 2001 turbo'ed Mustang where the modding is huge on those cars as well as tuning. But I do know every car has different stuff out there.

She was talking about getting a CAI, but I told her is was a waste of money most likely. At least with my car it would only net me like 2 HP tops, but then again on a LS1 is would have much higher gains.

So let me know what is usually done to these cars, I did read some people throw on an m90. I don't think she is ready for all that right now though, trying to get her started off with a couple nice bolt ons and work our way up. So if you guys could tell me the most "bang for the buck" mods that are out in terms of strictly bolt ons (no FI please). I would appreciate it. Thanks

On a side note... anyone ever throw an Eaton M112 on one of these?

Oh yea I forgot to mention. She wants to get her exhaust done. What typically sounds good with this car? Me being me I would just say throw 2 Flowmaster 40 series on it and call it a day. But yet again, every car is different.

I was just looking at that. Seems like most of it is for the supercharged models. Is the exhaust setup the same in the base,GTP,GXP,GT models?

dont ever buy flowmaster muffs for these cars, it sounds terrible and will drone on the freeway like crazy.

Best advise, stay far away from chambered mufflers.

Alright, I wouldn't actually go out and get them without doing research. Just saying what I am use to in terms of exhaust. I thought about making the first mod be throwing some 4.10's in or 3.73's if available. Although I haven't seen anything on people putting gears in these cars. I can't even find what they come with stock.

its front wheel drive so putting gears in it aint as easy as popping open a rear end and doing swapping in 4.10's. the gears are in the trans itself.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

FWD is alot different than RWD.

Changing the gear ratio means taking the motor and trans out and redoing everything and tuning the car to run it.

Stock it should have 3.29 gear ratio, which is good.

If she wants so mods for a little more power I'd suggest the following.

    HV3 insert
headers or a plog and downpipe
    tune to unlock some power
    home made air intake system

My fault. I am still adjusting. I've been around RWD cars my whole life.

As far as whats done to the car right now, its all visuals. She had "Pontiac" vinyl lettering put across the top of her windshield in white. And also has 2 "Racing stripes" going down the middle of it. Then she picked up a "fart can" and told me she was getting it for her car so thats when I stepped in lol. She wanted more visuals done too so I decided I would throw some VHT Nightshades on her tail lights, looks pretty good. And she has a little sound system going on with some Alpine HU, and 3 12" Alpine subs in the trunk.

I will look into those HV3 headers too, exhaust is apparently what she wants to tackle first. Oh and rims, but thats a different story.
