We bought my wife's 2001 GT new and have never owned a more reliable vehicle. So, of course, GM stopped making them.

Recently, it got very sluggish and wouldn't upshift unless we backed off on the accelerator, so I figured the CAT was plugged.

We kept the GM letter that came out in 2005 about CAT replacement, and sure enough it was still honoured. My wife's car has only 120,000 km on it, and it's covered until 190,000 km. And the ten year coverage period doesn't arrive until this June. A new CAT was installed free by our local Chevy dealer last Friday.

No rust. No other mechanical issues in 10 years. The only thing it needs right now is a light bulb in the radio and an EGR (P1404). Not bad, I'd say. Thanks GM.

Everything we own is GM, including a 1976 Bonneville and a Corvette I bought new. There's a couple of others in the stable too and I do most of the work on them all.

One more thing. Although we dealt with a Chevy dealer for years, my wife wanted a Grand Prix, so we were able to buy it new through the Chevy dealer. Although that's common now with the amalgamated dealership network, it was pretty rare in 2001.

This looks like a very helpful site for the Grand Prix. See you around.
