Hey guys, My name is Josh, im 16, and I just got my first car which is a 98 Grand Prix GT. Im here to learn all i can and be that guy that ask's the retarded questions that everyone should already know. I just recently bought a GTP engine to replace my factory GT and i was wondering if theres anything i should know about before swapping the two because its always easier to add on before its in the car, and also if theres anything i should keep up with on a supercharger besides oil, thanks!

If you're not swapping the transmissions as well you're going to need a tune.

I would have kept the GT engine and done a top swap myself. Good luck with the build. What are your plans with it?

^^^^ READ IT ^^^^ *will save alot of questions...

A thought before you put the engine in, spend the $200 or so and replace the LIM gaskets while its out. The factory ones are plastic and Dexcool coolant does wonderful things to them and you get internal leaks and then blown headgaskets or some kind of engine problem. Aluminum Fel-Pro gaskets are the way to go, follow the link for all the stuff you need to do and more reading material. http://www.grandprixforums.net/video...utes-3112.html
& for some extra info -

I would also change out the engine oil, supercharger oil, if its got any play in the supercharger change the coupler (How to replace an M90 snout coupler without removing the entire blower) New plugs, wires and throw in an air intake http://www.grandprixforums.net/fwi.php

Theres numerous other things I could come up with to start but Id knock out the basics to make sure its ready for driving before modding. If these have been done skip to whatever your pocketbook can handle

well the reason im changing is because i have a knocking in the GT engine. I was wondering if its worth getting the GTP engine for $350 and free installation?

^ Obviously never done a top swap, Lower block is the same between them, just compression difference, sensors change, need to reprogram computer to compensate, not too much work, just alot of prepwork
