I have wanted a GTP forever and have finally got some cash together and am wondering if I could get some advice. This is a 98 GTP here is the info and some picks
98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Coupe - 3.8L supercharged v6, auto, 111k miles, 2 door, black exterior, ebony interior, leather, pwr windows, pwr locks, pwr mirrors, heated & pwr drivers seat, keyless entry, heads up display, dual climate control, auto dimming rear view mirror, cd player with eq, polished 5 spoke wheels, tinted windows, ZZPerformance intercooler, zzPerformance ported stocker intake, 3.1 and 2.8 pulleys, aft cat w/u bend delete, 180 degree thermostat, TR6 plugs, fuel pump hot wire kit, aft fuel rails with 42lb. inj., and 8 rib quick change pulley conversion, Autometer gauges (trans temp, boost, and fuel pressure).

asking 4200 honestly I do not know a ton about mods and want to learn but this car sounds awesome can someone give me some advice on this whether it sounds good or not. Not sure what kind of hp it is running but sounds good.

    no dont buy it.

it has mods and you dont want a car with mods, becuase they dont get treated the best.

and by the looks of it, it has many mods with ZERO exhaust mods, which is bad.

Im with him if you dont know a lot about mods get one thats not modded and learn and do it right. You never know how a modded car has been treated. And as he says with a limited amount of exauhst work hes prolly knockin hard!! unless you have a way to scan for KR and money to throw in if it is knocking stay away get one thats stock

Thanks guys I am assuming this is an exhaust mod
    aft cat w/u bend delete

He did say he is willing to drive it to mechanic and let him look it over my mechanic is a GM mechanic not sure if that helps or not. I am really trying to get something with some speed to it and have about 4 grand to spend thought this might be it. I did used to have a supercharged mustang with gears.

Anyone else want to give some advice

the cars not worth it at all, its just gunna be a money pit and give you problems.

it just never a good idea to buy modded car, unless you know the person personally and know everything about said car.

you can find a stock GTP for around 4k with the same to maybe even lower miles.

These car are not slow stock, they have some pretty good get up and go acceleration. Just find a stock gtp and make it fast on your own and by doing it the right way. Which means reading up on how to mod them right through this site.

Well I do not have any other info he said it was a daily driver and did not put headers on because he was not trying to squeeze every horsepower out of it. Offered to let my mechanic look it over and said maybe its not right for me since I am unsure about the mods.

Said if I wanted it or wanted him to answer anything to let him know. I was just surpirsed he is willing to drive it an hour to let me mechanic look at it

yeah even tho he didn't want all the power out of it, i bet he ran it hard, and WOT and most likely the motor is wounded.. would have had some really high knock numbers.

I agree with everyone else. Back in 09' I bought a 2002 gtp with 96,000 miles on it. I paid $4700 for it and the owners were an elderly couple who had it maintained meticulously. I literally got a steal on the car, but i think that if you search long enough, the right deal will pop up.

3.1/2.8 with stock manifolds, radical. I bet it makes more degrees of knock than pounds of boost.

i agree with everyone else, do some more searching the right deal will pop up. DO NOT buy that car its knocking like a mofo on stock manis. plus its more fulfilling to go about the modding process yourself.
