Hi, new to this forum. Been on several of the other "guys" forums for some time now and found some interesting answers to a current issue lurking around here so I thought I'd join.
The Car: 2004 Grand Prix Comp G in Polo Green. Everything is stock, I just like the ride and I'm a Pontiac guy. Been driving Pontiacs since the mid '70s and have always owned one or two or three or four or so, you see where that is going. Right now the barn has 3 Ponchos - 2 GTOs and the GP. The GP has 190,000 miles on it and is my daily driver. I've been having some maintenance issues with it recently but that is to be expected. Worst problem so far was changing front wheel bearings. Had to torch one of the drive shafts off to get them out as the bearing was welded with rust and age onto the splines of the shaft. Had the typical problems with leaky OnStar antenna and the HUD spring mount breaking. I was able to fix all that on my own (except cutting the drive shaft, left the torching to a pro). My stupid chrome 17" torque star wheels have the chrome peeling real bad on one of them so if anyone wants to donate one or two to me I'd gladly take them. I like the look of the wheels but not the peeling chrome. Too bad the car had 70k on it when I got it otherwise GM could have replaced them for me.
Wanted to get a new GTO or G8 but with 2 daughters in college I keep the Comp G. It's a fun car and really goes when I push on the smile pedal. I've got the GTO ragtop for sunny days and the GTO hardtop to have something to work on. So why am I always working on the GP, the wife's car, the daughters car, the other daughters car, somebodys computer? Oh well...
anyway, thanks for listening in and hope to see you in the forums!!!
Happy New Year.
