Hello I am a proud Grand Prix owner. It was the very first car I bought and worked hard to keep up and pay off. She is a 1999 Grand Prix white. Now I am a proud owner of Sliver with chrome accent on my new Grand Prix 2008. I asked for all the special packages and the Chrome exhaust and the 17" special rims. I am almost done with the payments on this Lady. I also don't trust people working on my cars. I own the 1999 General Motors W-Platform Service Manual. After I bought my Grand Prix 2008 I turned around and purchased the GM Service Manuals for that Lady too. I am Electronic Engineer, and my speciality is car electronics, but I don't have current insight of PCM,ECM, or BCM component. I do have the AutoTap with the USB to OBD connector and I purchased the Power Train package. Let me know if I can be of any help to the community.

    Welcome!

ECM IIRC is basically a part of the PCM. Instead of having a separate ECM and TCM we have one which does both. hence PCM.

Autotap looks pretty interesting... Can you record the live data?

On the Question on AutoTap. Yes you can. It is nice, so later when you have a problem with a sensor or general wiring problem. You can check your old data to your new data and find the problem. It helped me find a problem with my two oxygen sensors. They where not running in sync with one another and this was causing me to have so pick up performance. Thanks for asking.
