Hey guys, this is my first post so bear with me, I have a 04 Grand Prix GTP Comp G. Its in great shape and Im starting to want to add some mods to it.

So im here asking what would be a good cat-back exhaust system to get thats not over a grand, and gives a good V8 sounding tone. I don't mind drone at all so w/e is nice let me know.

    Thanks.

welcome to the forums, as long as you have some sort of resonator it should sound good, i have the stock catback with headers and i love how the car sounds. as far as full catbacks go, i love how the borla one sounds

borla corsa or magnaflow should all be decent.

    those are all stainless.

if you didn't need stainless the dynomax system is a good sounding one as well.

but for real, get headers, **** catbacks.

Alright thanks guys, but how hard is it to get the stock manifolds off? cuz it seems like the one on the back is really tucked in.

I will be swapping out stock headers for aftermarkets on my 04 gtp comp g too when they arrive... I would also be intersted in knowing how difficult it will be, and also if there is any good instructions for header installs on the 04= gtp's.

the mani bolts arent too bad, if anything have PB blasterr handy, its the downpipe bolts that suuuuck

you will have to take off the dogbone motor mounts and rock the engine forward to make it more accessible tho

yeeh, dnt break those, also get the right style headers, you want SLP knockoffs as they are the ones that fit the best, like speedy daddy headers on ebay

So when doing the manifolds do you start by removing the dogbone motor mounts, pulling the engine forward, putting on the new rear manifold, rocking the engine back, putting on the front manifolds, putting on the pipe that connects the manifolds, then the downpipe? Lol im not sure how this is gonna work yet it could get interesting. :P

    remove downpipe
    remove front mani
    remove crossover pipe
take off motor mounts and rock engine forward till the vavle cover hits the fans
    install rear header
    install crossover
    rock engine back
    install from header
    install motor mounts
    install downpipe
start up and check for leaks especially around the egr

http://www.grandprixforums.net/new-m...ads-36503.html These helpful threads, really are helpful. there's a thread in there with general mod info as well as a link to info on headers. Start reading, that's how we all learn.
