thanks for the warm welcome! eventually planning on doing a l67 swap or the hybrid type swap that zzp has. the diy shift kit is on my list too.

right now i'm trying to get the darn thing to run. i have the vague p0102 code and the car keeps stalling. i'm going to start tracing wires, checking voltages/freq and checking for shorts/grounds this week.

i've been reading up on this forum for help and it's been very useful!

sounds like a plan, prob a MAF sensor or CPS, probably just electrical

when you do get around to the swap, stay away from the ssm90 kit and the rest of the overpriced zzp stuff. it can be done wayyy cheaper
99 GT - top swapped, S2X cam. - sadly, sold
    96 Firebird Formula - T-tops and exhaust leak. 14.26 @ 97.8 - sold
2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS - stock, in all of it's turbocharged awesomeness

replaced maf sensor because it was easy. the p0102 code cleared and the car ran perfectly for another 130 miles. then the p0102 code/stalling/hard start issue surfaced again!

checked voltage to maf - keyed source 12.01 volts, 5 volts on other lead as referenced to the middle ground wire to maf.

checked battery voltage across positive and negative batt terms -> 12.74VDC. with negative lead of meter on engine mount metered same 12.74 volts. that tells me the engine has a good chassis ground so the maf should have a good ground reference correct?

next i will be looking for shorts on the wiring from the pcm to the maf as well as the keyed source.

CTKGP09- you mentioned CPS - would a faulty cps trip the p0102 code? that's the only code the car is tripping.

any other ideas anyone? taking the bus to work stinks!

im pretty sure the CPS wont throw a code, didnt think about that when i mentioned it, check voltages/unplug the 1st O2 sensor and see if it runs any better...to refresh my memory what all does the p0102 cover? is that one of the vague ones?

"mass or volume air flow circuit low input" is what the code means. vague to me anyway.

i'll try unplugging the o2 sensor next.
