I am not a Grand Prix owner yet, but tomorrow I will be meeting up with someone to test drive their 2005 Black GTP (non-CompG). If the car has been taken well car of, I will be buying it for my wife, but it will also be my project car to play with. If I don't get this car, I'll be trying to find a CompG GTP as this was what I was hoping to get to start off with.

A little about me. I'm 24 years old, I work for one of the nation's largest mortgage companies. You need to refinance your home? I'm the person to talk to. I'm a loan officer.

I'm not new to working on cars, tinkering is my past-time. I have an '88 single turbo Supra with BPU's as well, I'm looking to at least get the GTP to the performance level of that car. If I can, I will be happy.

I've got a nice list of parts that I'll be buying for the car soon after I get it, but I will be doing some maintenace to the car before modding, such as:
    Colder t-stat.
    Green coolant.
New motor oil and hopefully score a larger-than-stock oil filter to go along with this.
    New Supercharger oil.
Change out the PS fluid if this car doesn't have electronic PS.
    Plugs.
    Wires.
Drain tranny and refil with new oil and filter.

Look forward to a long, happy relationship with you people!

    Chris.

    welcome.
i was close to buying a comp g a couple weeks ago but the seller wasn't very motivated and his listing price was high to begin with. so rather than rushing things, i'm gonna wait for the right buy.

Test drove the GTP Saturday and wasn't impressed by the power. I could hear the supercharger, but it wasn't pushing me back into the seat. I've got a 2006 Malibu 3.5L V6 with an intake and a better flowing exahust. The Malibu pulls harder than the GTP did!

I'm thinking since the owner only put gas in it and took it to a mechanic for oil changes, that he didn't do much else with it. I'm betting that his air filter is all clogged up and needs replacing. What do you guys think?

Stock these cars are conservative... I thought my car was decently fast when I first got it.... $$$$ later in mods... its getting faster

Got an avatar of the car we will be buying up now. As you can see it doesn't have stock rims, but they are off a Pontiac Torrent. I think they should have come with the car to start with.

I've looked, but I don't see a build thread section for member's rides on here. Do you have a build thread subforum on here?

We picked up the car today. I was right about the air filter robbing a lot of power. It looked like it had the original filter in it. I took the cone filter off the malibu and put it on the GTP, BIG difference! This is more like what I was expecting out of this car.

SEND THE SHIFT KIT BACK, if you bought it from ZZP, it sucks, send it back get a refund and buy a intense shift kit.

    first off, read this: http://www.grandprixforums.net/safel...car-17482.html

Also, I'll let the others get into the details, but my understanding is that the ZZP shift kit consists of parts you can pick up from home depot, it doesn't actually help, and you can firm the shifts through the PCM... so no need for the ZZP kit. I think the others actually help the tranny have a longer life. ....but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks for the comments guys! That mod thread was actually one of the first threads I read on here before joining. Notice my list of parts that I bought? They all (except the shift kit) come from the basic maintenace that is recommended from that thread
Oh, I did also buy supercharger oil at the same time as well, that was one thing I forgot to list.

Here's a picture of the car after we washed and waxed it with TurtleWax ICE synthetic polish.
