hey everyone, my name is Brennan. I joined this site because I wanted all of your opinions and answers! I have a 1997 grand prix GT. I have had this car since I was 15 years old and have been working on it ever since..

here is a link to what my car looks like right now... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3869092/1# I know you can't see the back of the car but right now it has dual chrome tips and the smoked LED tail lights.

My question to you all regards a top swap. My current mods on the engine and exhaust are: GT1 cam, #90 springs, modded retainers, high velocity throttlebody (HVTB), high velocity intake insert (HV3), zzp 1.0 PCM, zzp cold air intake, 180 Tstat, ubend delete, high flow cat, high flow resonator, flowmaster mufflers, chrome tips. this was all done with zzp product and installed by zzp.

I have gotten it dyno'd by zzp a couple of times and have 203 wheel horsepower as of now..my goal is to hit at least 250 at the minimum. I would think that a top swap will show me these numbers correct?

my main question although is about the GT1 cam. zzp states that it is nitrous and intercool boost friendly. which isn't supercharged "friendly". So, would it be ok to top swap and have this cam? I know it isn't the perfect cam for supercharged boost but will it work? and will I still see great power gains?

thank you all for your help and I look forward to talking with you all!

how haven't you blown out your transmission yet? the 97 se and gt models had vacuum controlled transmissions that most people on here try to avoid like the plague lol. kudos, but that's something you might wanna keep in the back of your mind, especially with the 20's on.

i personally don't have any experience with cams, but i'm guessing what the mean when they say it isn't "friendly" is that it won't allow you to reach the full potential of a supercharged setup like, say for example, a more common s1x cam. i'm sure it will work, but you should probably think about finding somebody good with a tuner and have a custom tune done. even if it isn't necessary, it couldn't hurt. and, if i remember right, if and when you swap, you'll lose the HV3 insert and possibly the throttle body you have now.
99 GT - top swapped, S2X cam. - sadly, sold
    96 Firebird Formula - T-tops and exhaust leak. 14.26 @ 97.8 - sold
2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS - stock, in all of it's turbocharged awesomeness

ok cool thanks for the info poil..I just wanted to make sure that it is possible to even do the top swap with the GT1 cam..and yes I know I will lose the HV3 but it would be worth it to me..I still don't understand why I can't have the HV3 there..I guess I will just have to sell it.

And I know the 97 tranny isn't the best..but I'm going to have a custom tranny file put into it so that it should hold up, and ill do the fluid flush and the filter change to help it as well..its held up pretty good so far..
