I came here to say hi
    Jacob Barkley
    Kokomo IN

Bought a black 99 GTP from Kokomo Pontiac dealer.
I had this car for less then a month =/

It started out looking like this.

    -
    -
    -

Then the mods began Started off with Blacking tails and corners.

    -Prep

    -Installed

    -Corners

    -
    -
    -

Also had u-bend delete, Res delete, 3.4 pully, Custom K&N intake, 180t-stat, 4k hids

In less then a month after driving my car around all the time....
This happened one late night/early morning after moving my car from the driveway to the road.

At first I thought someone did this, but now i'm starting to think the car did this to its self. I keep getting mixed ideas but don't want to believe someone did this. I want to think it just had the bad orings so if anyone could help please do.

Car probably did it to itself because of those scoops on the hood. :P

J/K That sucks. I guess just be glad it didnt happen while you were driving down the highway or anything.

who the f@ck takes a picture when their car is on fire?

sorry to hear, but you wouldve blown it up sooner or later with your unsupported pulley

think og this as a gift to you, now you can collect the insurance money then start over and do it right, save you some money too bro

There is/was a recall on these cars for just this reason. Oil leaks from under the front valve covers, gets on the exhaust manifold, and catches fire. Just google grand prix recall. You will probably find quite a bit. Sorry about your luck man

If you had this car for less than a month and you bought it from a dealer I would contact the dealership and argue that they sold you a dangerous vehicle and if they don't do something to take care of it then you will be contacting a lawyer or something to that extent.

I think your allowed to swap pulleys with out voiding anything, plus it doesn't matter its totaled. I bought the car with the custom K&N and 180t stat so they pretty much sold me the car modded, and its a new/used car dealership probably the biggest in my city at least.

do a youtube search for grand prix, half the videos on there are of them catching on fire. I agree though, see what you can get from the dealer. If there was a recall out, I would expect a dealer to take care of it

Get a lawyer. It's cheaper than a car.

umm, yeah, grand prixs like to start themselves on fire. ...stupid cops... I've seen a couple burned up GPs in my junk yards from this.

Get a copy of the recall and take it to the police station. If the police report has a suspicion of arson, the insurance company won't pay. ...make sure your insurance agent/company is aware of it as well.

Yes, grand prixs DO spontaeously combust... doesn't matter about mods, just the leaky oil as jshifti33 stated.

can you get your hands on a G8 GT? Insurance should cover your car. Ask them what to do if they think you are criminally liable, or are sued by someone. My insurance company handles that aspect, so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

Here's a list of the Pontiac G8, GP, and GTOs for sale in Kokomo, Indiana (under $30,000). Looks like a lot of good deals. Even a couple certified ones. Now that you have time, and know what you want, take the time to make sure you get a smokin deal.

....wow, I'm really surprised that your insurance company isn't just cutting you a check!

but, glad to see resolution is in the works.
