I have been looking for either a pontiac gtp or regal gs for awhile. I finally managed to track down a 1999 buick regal gs. Is there anyway to get away with mabe a 3.4 pulley adding just a intake,180thermostat,dp,and autolite 104's? At least for awhile? btw I had a mild cammed firebird lt1 before this with a built trans, it is nice to drive something and not always have to get gas lol!

welcome to the forums, here is a start to answer some of the questions...

    http://www.grandprixforums.net/f81/s...car-17482.html

soo open cone, colder plugs, colder thermo, headers, some higher ratio rockers, and a tune will get you to a 3.4 safetly

i am running a 3.4 pulley with only the following mods, ported manifolds and ported heads, 180* stat, 104's,modified down pipe, u-bend and resionator delete, and im not having any problems so far, each car will respond different. i still see some kr of about 3* and i believe if i put a cai i might not see any KR

    ^^Thank you.

No way...pics or dyno sheet or something. Ported Heads, U-Bend Deleted, and Ported Manifolds should net you in the 3.25" area with a good tune IMO.

i had my heads ported at my local race machine shop here in ga. when i bought the car it had a blown intake gasket. and i figured i would pull the heads and replace the heads gaskets and head bolts, had the heads milled .008 to straighten the surface, ported the intake and exhaust, ported the manifolds my self. i believe i am seeing false knock, i do have weak motor mounts, i havent bought a cold air intake cause work has slowed down and cant afford to do a lot to the car. i did what i had to to get the car running, paid 1000 for car and spent 800 getting it running.

i cut most of the front out of my air box to encrease air flow. i can hear the wine from the supercharger, but its nothing like my riviera was with a cold air intake.

ported to what? your stock cam? All that would have done is lower velocity (see power) and cost you money you shouldn't have spent.

There are more aggressive cams that better match the stock casting than the stock cam so porting your heads and running the stock cam is just shooting yourself in the foot and wallet.

i understand that. i figured while i had the heads off i would have them ported for later mods. i plan on putting in a XP CAM, S2 INTERCOOLER, CUSTOM PCM TUNE, AND PORTED BLOWER AND LIM when i get taxes back next year.

XP cam doesnt require ported heads.... unless you plan on running 1.7 RR's with 'em.

And the cheaper route is a bigger cam to start with.

if i would have to guess. the port work is equal to or a little more than the intense stage 1 heads. port and polish only cost me 300 and looks very well. i have been thinking about a bigger cam than the xp but i dont want to go to big and loose a lot of fuel mileage. right now i am averaging around 22mpg around town and 30-31 on highway. im gonna install a zzp shift kit this week end and flush my trans again at work.. i have 152k on my car now and plan on changing cams when i replace the transmission.
