Hey i'm new to the site and just thought i'd make a post and get some info at the same time. Thinking about making my 02 grand prix gt sound just a little better, i was thinking about just cutting the mufflers out because i can't afford a whole exhaust at the moment...just let me know what you think

please dont. if you do anything replace the mufflers with another set. if you take out the resonator please replace it with another resonator or a glasspack. do not straight pipe your car.

What kind of car are we talking here? They put resonators on to help reduce interior noise. It does affect how the exhaust note sounds too, but I enjoy quiet in my car.

I bet if you hacked off the rezzy in a GTO or something else with a V8 it would sound good but...naaa uh...not these damned 3800's. Imagine hitting a tin pan with a windmill...crapcrapcrapcrapcrap sound

I've got a GTO, and you couldn't pay me to remove that resonator from the car. A set of long tube headers (and a cam swap) makes it sound great from the outside, yet it's still mild inside. Except at WOT.

And that "Tin pan featuring Windmill" sound is very accurate.

My father had an 04 Comp-G. We yanked the resonator out, and it sucked. Ended up putting it back in a week later.

Who's being an asshole? I stated my opinion, just like you did. I never said you were wrong, nor did I call you an asshole.
