    running thicker oil will just keep the engine components coated more evenly and allow you to keep higher oil pressure. i ran 10w40 in my car and loved it in comparison to the 5w30 that it recommends. dont take everything the manufacturer says for granted.

    basically any oil you buy with your own money will work, how good of oil (read expensive) you want to buy is up to you.
