I have an intense pcm Its a decent tune
you wont get 40 hp from it though
and i didnt see any sort of mani upgrade(header, pems)
I didn't mean get 40hp just from the PCM flash. With a wizair, 3.4 pulley, intense pcm and slp headers I would though :th_laugh-lol3:
Max I have to spend is 2 grand, there's a variety of different mods I can do for that price. Interested in hearing and researching what guys are doing here to their GTP's.
I'm def not doing a catback on this car. I love the fact it's quiet. I've got a stainless steel DC catback on my prelude. I can't handle all my cars loud lol.

Re: New, just bought 98 GTP coupe ebay $3100, 80k
i wasnt saying just from the flash

also id check out ssac's if your considering slp's save a lot of coin
also depends how far you wanna go with it
2000 spread out the right way can get you a lot of mods

Re: New, just bought 98 GTP coupe ebay $3100, 80k

I agree you can get a lot of performance for 2 grand. Doesn't SSAC have a lot of issues with cheap quality and fitment? Maybe they turned the rep around. Your talking about SS autochrome right?
I want a product that's going to retain reliability for sure. I think if I get the car into the 13's I'll be totally satisfied. It's really used as my wife and I third car. It will be the car we drive the most in the winter too.
I only live about 30 minutes from Norwalk or now known as Summit Motorsports Park. I'm up there a lot in the summer.

I like your tails are they tinted? Mine have massive moisture in mine and look terrible. What does your car run man? I'd have similar mods to yours except headers and if I save some coin on the headers like bro was saying above maybe a IC.
Also the resonater that you deleted. Did it make your car a lot louder because I'm keeping at least stock mufflers. I don't want my car loud but my resonater at the time being has a hole in it.

Besides the down pipe hump in the ss autocromes i havent heard many complaints about them
I good 3.4 set up with a custom tune and rockers id say you will be happy with the car
then put some into the suspension and you will still be well under 2000

Re: New, just bought 98 GTP coupe ebay $3100, 80k
WHAT A STEAL!! That car is gorgeous. 80K. l67 engines with 80k cost 2500 lol. Good buy. Nice color too. Mine was red, I painted it Orange, Now its going back to red.
If you don't mind traveling to eaton rapids MI, you can get a similar build as mine for less than 2 grand installed! $420 (ZZP vs cam and ls7 valve springs) $100 (cam install kit) $35(new timing chain) $75 ( 180 Thermo, 104 plugs, new belt) $350 (SSAC headers) and $750 for everything installed plus a GREAT tune. The co-president of the Michigan Grand prix club (big worm) will hook you up reeeeeal nice if you tel him I sent you. Thats a REALY low 13 for under $1700. PM me if you got the guts to make the jump.

I''ve got SSAC's (XS headers) They fit great and have never given me a problem. I'm probably running a really low 13 on them with no KR and they only cost 350 to my front door.:th_thumbsup-wink:

Damn guy those are cheap in price. Maybe I should opt out of the SLP's. You're running 0 knock retard on them. What else do you have done to help keep knock retard down? I know every car is different but you get some good guidelines from talking to others that have already been there done that. Do you have any pictures of your engine bay?
I myself just about **** my pants, when I won the bid on ebay for my GTP. I looked at my wife and said holy smokes nobody else bid babe. She was really happy it's a 2dr like she wanted and had super low miles for a 1998. She really doesn't drive it often as I thought she would. She likes her Mazda6, it's got the 220hp engine.
Also what type of downpipe do you run with the headers or is it totally eliminated? I want to get the cat converter off the car, I live in Ohio and we have no emissions. All they do is choke the car anyways.

I can get some engine bay pics up soon. They come with a 3 inch catless DP and they look awesome. I've got a cheap $40 ebay intake, drilled 180 t-stat, autolite 104's and I ported my blower outlet myself. I'm running no knock on a 3.3 and I'm sure I could run a 3.2 or 3.1 with minimal or no knock. There is no point in buying expensive zzp/ slp headers unlless you're trying to dig into LOW 12's or 11's, and by then, you'd be better off going turbo. Here are pics of them on my living room floor fresh out the box. http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs134...._6435415_n.jpg

You can get these with a VS cam, pulley valve springs and all the supporting mods plus a GREAT TUNE and run a low 13 for less than 1700 bucks installed if you don't mind traveling to Michigan. PM me if you're intrested:th_thumbsup-wink:

Outstanding pictures! When you say these headers come with a 3 inch downpipe. How is the 3 inch downpipe integrated into the stock exhaust system does it come with a reducer and does it have to be welded into the system. How do the headers come together with metal clamps?
I'd probably opt to skip the cam and valvetrain components. I can't have a lopey idle, wife wouldn't like it. Are you saying that 13's cant be obtained without a cam though?
Where in MI are you I'm halfway between cleveland and columbus. Do you work on your car? I'm done with manual labor on vehicles. I had nitrous on my prelude, after having a brain fart and spraying to long I popped the piston ring out of the groove and melted itself to itself lol. I sleeved the block with ductile sleeves forged pistons and rods and it never ran right. After pulling the engine 2 times I finally broke down and bought a stock type sh engine with 7 thousand miles on it and called it a day on that car. It did run 13.50's with just a 75 shot though.
Seems when I mess with engines and internals I ruin them lol.

Re: New, just bought 98 GTP coupe ebay $3100, 80k
A solid 3.4 set up will get you into the 13's if you want throw a intercooler on it or meth injection and your good to go
3.4 pulley
Good tune perferably custom
ssac headers
open cone or fwi
al104 plugs
180 tstat
ported blower
Add rockers or intercooler or meth and you can still be within budget and have a 13's car

Sweet, only thing is it looks like when I bought my car someone put a rebuilt or new blower on it but it won't build full boost on the gauge. 2 bars shy, could it be possibly improper tightening of supercharger bolts, bad or used gasket put back on, or LIM gaskets leaking?
I'd really not have that much money into a setup like that. The headers and tune being the most expensive. It would be nice to find someone close to me that's worked on these cars before and install everything myself.

My roommate has a 98 GTP. He loves it and the thing definitely hauls butt.

Re: New, just bought 98 GTP coupe ebay $3100, 80k
the boost gauge in the car is crap... i wouldnt go just buy what it says
If the lim is leaking? did you already get that fixed or not
just ask around on here there may be a local that could help you These cars are pretty basic to work on a jack some ramps a basic craftsman tool set and some harbor frieght tools and your good to go
hell for the right price ill load up tools and do it lol

No I didn't fix the LIM yet, I have a guy here that said he'd do all the gaskets, LIM, and all new motor mounts and trans mount for $600 and that includes all the parts.
I doubt you'd want drive across country to fix a LIM lol. I'm not touching it, I'm done working on cars after pulling my prelude engine 2 times. But ya it def isn't going to full boost.

Oh 13's are easily in reach with less than a grand. LOW 13's - High 12's... not so much (at least without spray). I have a VS cam, and its quite possibly the smallest gtp cam worth buying. I got it because I didn't want acrazy lopey idle, and its realy easy on the internals. You cant tell it's cammed from inside the car.
Anyway, I do a lot of my work myself, but I had the cam put in at big worms performance shop. He's a f^cking beast and he damn near works on these cars for fun. Guy gives great deals. I don't know what my 1/4 mile is, but I can beat a modded 07 mustang GT by a length and a half that has ran a 13.3 in street trim. I spent 1100 dollars in engine mods. He put my cam and in in about 8 hours and tund the car to perfection. I removed my resonator and put in 2.5 inch piping. the 3 inch welded up nicely to the pipe, and the pipe welded to the stock Y. All the clamps sealed up great so far.

Re: New, just bought 98 GTP coupe ebay $3100, 80k
my s1x cam is a tad bit lopey but if you didnt know it was cammed you probably wouldnt hear it

So your idle doesn't jump all around? You said you did valve springs and retainers right? Did you do 1.9 rockers and hardened pushrods? I can keep my options open.
Did the shop you had the cam installed at have a dyno there? How did he tune it. We have nobody I know of here in ohio. How much did he charge for the labor?
Basically you can do anything bolt on as far as installing aftermarket parts? You just didn't want to risk having the cam timing off right?
I'm wondering how loud the car would be with headers, res delete on stock mufflers. I know it's loud with a hole in the resonater lol.:th_thumbsup-wink:

yes I tinted my tails myself with some spray on tint. I dont know what my car runs yet but will. I am now running a 3.5 pulley and will be running my 3.4 setup hopefully soon. I personally wouldnt delete the resonator cause it will give your car a bad raspy sound and it will make it just a little louder. the only reason I deleted mine is cause it was rusted and had holes. Just put a glasspack in its place thats what Im gonna do soon.
