    My name is Cray....I have recently purchased an 2002 Grand Prix. I really enjoy it...but I have a bad vibration when accelerating. I think that it is the ball joint. I just changed the drivers side CV halfshaft and noticed that the ball joint appeared to be worn because I could move it around with fingers very easy. I also changed the transmission mount hoping that would cure it....but it didn't. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Motor mount possibly... and would also look at the passenger side axle...

    take it in for an alignment. that way your front end gets checked, ususally for free by a qualified dude,(usually,) if there's something wrong they won't align it and probably not charge u. then u'll know what u need to do. people did this to us alot in the 90's.....the 1990's for u smart a$$es.. and by the way, welcome!

    Hey badbrad and Ibwrong, thanks for the info and the warm welcome! I will be replacing the balljoints and the passenger CV Halfshaft this Friday, New Years Day, it is the only good day that have to do this. I am curious has to where the passenger side engine mount is actually located. I don't have a lift but I will be visiting a friend of friend this Saturday that has a lift and I want to know where to look so I can inspect it and possibly that day replace it. I don't want any one to work on this car but me. I just like to learn and know my car, every nut and bolt! My co-workers tell me I am crazy but they don't have the drive to want to do the work themselves... I just like turning wrenches! I sit in front of a computer all day at my work and can't wait to get off to raise the hood and start nosin around for something to "hop up" or repair....!

    ok the motor mount is under timing cover basically, its hydralic oil filled. then u have a trans mount, the 2 upper dog bones.. i know that a gtp have a bigger/thicker shaft on the pass. side. usually the front motor mt will bust and leakfluid. if u have tight(polyurethane) dog bone mts. it'll help keep the motor from rocking, therefore busting the oil filled motor mt. please always use somekind of jack stand. thants a side note.
