I currently own a somewhat rare 2 door purple metallic '98 GTP. Back in '98 I leased a then brand new, '98 purple GT, and always wanted another of the 2 door purple ones, but a GTP this time. I bought this one from a pre-owned car dealership about 10 miles or so from Boston,Mass.Considering I'm just north of Northeast Philly, it was just over 300 miles away!Saw it on ebay and after having them send me a bunch of photos ,more so than those that were in the auction add, I drove up there with my wife and was pretty excited to FINALLy arrive on a Sat. afternoon.Test drove the car and then looked it over as good as I could without the benefit of my body shop. I made a list of things I noticed about the car that were in the negative catagory, and figured they were ammo to be used in getting a better deal.It had pretty low mileage for a ( at the time) 9 year old car with about 81K showing. The car had seen better days but in my eyes showed potential. Kinda unusual to find a base GTP with cloth seats, a no frills interior rear view mirror, no H.U.D. and the silver painted alum rims. It did get an aftermarket retractable moon roof that dosen't leak, looks darn near o.e.m. and works fine. I drove it home that night and put maybe another 65 miles on it before parking it in front of my little body shop where it's mostly been for the last 1.5 years.I gave it a fresh battery and do run it every couple of weeks for at least 10 minutes.Guess I'll have to get busy on the 'ol girl and do it up. Been driving a real nice '96 Buick Roadmaster wagon but I'm finally getting the itch to work on the G.P. I've been ordering "goodies" for it these last couple of years, new o.e.m. interior lights, all new carpet & mats, had the stock c.d. player completely rebuilt by a professional outfit so it's like new,even bought some nice 17 inch polished alum American Racing rims to put on it which are still in the original boxes.Depending on $, I hope to replace the front head light assemblies,do a complete re-paint of the body along with adding some silver sport stripes down the hood, spoiler, and deck lid, a rebulit super charger, pully, etc. Not making it a drag car, but would like to have at least a high 13 second car. Well, that's enough of an introduction for now.
