Hello I've got a 97 grand prix gtp and a while back my sway bar broke. I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion on where to buy new sway bar for around 125 bucks. Its the front sway bar by the way.

I respecfully diasagree on junk yards.

The reason why is, I just got my 99 and all the cars in the yards had broken, or alrady taken bars. The problem with finding one at a yard is, it will probably break like the one you have. The issue with the bar is that is it hallow.

Go to GM partsdirect.com and you will see there is a kit to fix this issue. Here is the info from the site. To see the kit, put the part number below in the search.

    GM PART # 12498643
    CATEGORY: All
    PACK QTY: 1
    CORE CHARGE: $0.00
    GM LIST: $79.95
    OUR PRICE: $58.24

DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY FRONT SWAY BAR KIT For use on 1999-2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo; 2000-2002 Chevrolet Impala; 1997-2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. This 34mm bar enhances cornering by reducing body roll. The kit includes stabilizer bar P/N 10404184, bushings P/N 10403188, and end links P/N 10403402.

Now, you have to add shipping and for me it was $20. This is where this dealer makes his money and of course with $20 shipping, the price was right at list.

I went to my local dealer and he could get it for list. I had it four days later and helped a local dealer out. He can also do a local search to see if another dealer has one in the area. My dealer did, told me he could get it and then on the way home he called and said that kit was spoken for and then knocked $10 off the price for one he had to order for me.

This kit is from GM Performance, or what was, and was cheaper then aftermarket.

You get all new, bushings, links and the bar for under your $125!
