    Hi All,
I'm a newbie with a problem with a 2003 Pontiac GP sedan with the small V6. The check engine light soon is on (steady) and I have replaced the gas cap with son success. Had the same problem with a 2004 Montana Van, put a new gas cap on it and the light stayed on even after a couple of tanks of gas. A mechanic some where (Firestone, I think) ask if the light had been reset which it had not. I've reset the change oil soon light numerous since half the people changing your oil either forget to reset it or don't know how. That reset code is in the owners manual, but I can't find one for the engine light. anyone know what it is? I'm thinking that it was put the ignition switch to "on" and slowly pump the accelerator 20 times, but . . . . . Thank you.

Welcome!! Have it scanned at autozone or a shop. Then fix the problem. Then you can have them reset the code with a scan tool.

you can shut the light off by disconecting the battery for 10 minutes as well but that wont help you figure out the dtc and the light will more then likely come back on

I agree. if you fix the problem the light should go off on its own most of the time.
