This may be the dumbest problem of all time.

In our 2001 GP GT, the back seat center armrest/cupholder thing doesn't stay put in the upright position, so if I come to a hard stop, it comes flying open, and is kind of surprising and terrifying when it happens and I'm not expecting it.

How do you keep that thing up? I'm tempted to install powerful magnets or something!

    HELP!

Velcro my friend. Velcro and DONE

Also, thanks for that door-trim fix idea using the door edge guard. Worked great for me.

Swap in a set of 04+ seats...no more floppy arm rest, full flip down rear and so much more comfortable

That only holds the pass through closed, he is talking about the part with the cup holders in it.

On mine, the pass through and cup holder thingy are all one piece. Or maybe I don't spend enough time back there. LOL

Just went and looked. I get what is going on now. The cushion/cup holder is pressure fit between the seats, so velcro may be your best bet.

Yeah, all of my GPs were 2 separate pieces back there.
On an unrealated note, I almost ordered a custom fit Flux Capacitor that went inside that spot, it even lit up.
