I have a 1998 Grand Prix GTP and since i have had first bought the car 3 months ago it sometimes shifted hard from 1st to 2nd but othertimes it would shift smooth as butter. Then about a week ago it was getting to the point where it would slip, go up to about 7k rpm then catch again. Today the car would barely get going from a stop and finally it went out and the car shut off. I coasted down the hill and pulled onto a side road. It would shift into Drive then i would attempt to push gas and it would jolt then die. it only does this from 1st to second, and in first gear if im driving slow. before it went out i would shift into nuetral because as i slow down it would jolt horrible and having it in nuetral it didnt do that, then i put it in drive at stop and went and was barely getting out of first. After letting the car sit for several minuts...maybe 20 or so...i drove about 1 block down the road to a friends and it went just fine...but now it has to sit there cuz im sure it wont go an hour to where i do live. Whatcha think the prob is?? it seems to be only 1-2nd gear....idk.
