I just picked up a 1998 Grand Prix GT 3 days ago for $880. The exterior is rough and the passenger side inner cv joint is so bad it makes the car shake (had to drive it 180 miles to get home lol). But other than that it seems to be a good running car. Starts right up, and goes right into gear. Trans was rebuilt at 110k, car has 160k now.
Main reason i bought it was our current "family" car is a '93 accord, we just had another kid (for a grand total of 3 now) and 3 car seats don't fit in the back seat of an accord. So i got to looking on craigslist and found this GP needing an axle so i jumped on it. These cars are so damn roomy, i think it was prob. the biggest car i could have got without getting into old boats.
I plan in the future to get something a little nicer for the family ride, put an l67 & HD tranny in this one and have some fun. Thats the current issue at hand, i want to tweak on it but i'll end up breaking it and then the 'ol lady will shoot me. lol
My daily driver is a '96 Grand Am GT (black like the Grand Prix) w/ the 2.4 twin cam/5spd. Its a fun little car. Once i get the Grand Prix ready for daily use were selling the Accord. Whats nice is that what i plan to get out of the accord will more than pay for the Grand Prix, and the parts to fix it lol
Will be nice having two black Pontiacs sitting in the driveway![]()
