Welcome! You don't see many older models of your car on here but don't be discouraged because many of the owners of the Series II and III have owned the older models and can help.

It's also nice to grow the older generation GP community on this forum.

I'm glad to see a pre 1997 prix!

i love it. it runs great except for the fact that it has a bad crank sensor. so it misses and backfires when it heats up.

did some math and the numbers are going to be around 413 hp. add that to a getrag 5 speed and a stage 2 clutch and you got a pretty decent street car if you ask me.

im not sure what vin code it is but the best way is to just check the turbo and make sure it says mclaren on it. also there would be obvious signs of the modifications ie: someone cut the quarter panels to put the flares on. im building a conversion or clone whatever you wanna call it. theres a bunch of different mods that have to be done that if you know what to look for are pretty obvious were done outside of the factory.

also my 91 se has a stainless exhaust still looks brand new but its original so thats not how to tell..... also another teller is the hood check the vents for modifications ill look up and see what the vin code is for the actual mclaren but i dont know off hand what it is. i do however know 90 is the last year for the mclaren after that it went to the ste turbo in 91.

edit: usually the best way to tell if its a real mclaren or not is the turbo a factory mclaren turbo is hard to come by so most people that convert use different turbos ie: im using a garret t-3 when convert mine.
