So a few months ago I was in the market for a new project car and I had almost bought a Monte Carlo from my wife's sister (her husband had already sold it before I had the chance to) so that had me on the desire to buy a 3800 powered W-body in general. So in my searching for Monte Carlos I was reminded that the Grand Prix was the same platform and that there were even more of those that were supercharged than the monte carlos. So that led me to searching for either one as I think both are good looking cars. So I came a cross a 97 GTP that looked like it lived in a garage its whole life that an old lady was selling and then that got sold out from under me(though it had almost 300k) then I found my new project a Black 01 2 door GTP with 149k that needed a transmission and the paint is a bit rough. I decided to pick it because as I say I wanted a project and my main things I was looking for was rust free, body to be damage free (no collision damage or structural damage), and the engine be serviceable. Reading between this site and a few others that cater to 3800s, w-bodies and so on led me to expect transmission issues and seeing how I once was an automotive technician by profession(kinda retired to be a stay at home dad due to wife getting big promotion and the covid crap forcing the kids to be home for a while) who was also the transmission guy at a ford dealership I know how to rebuild transmissions anyway so I was fine with that.

so far I have changed a broken hood shock, took a lot of gaudy chrome trim pieces off, removed the onstar module and antenna, and started taking everything apart to pull the engine/transmission, and swapped out some chrome grill inserts for factory ones. Tomorrow I am going to go buy an engine crane to finish pulling them. Also I got a junkyard Transmission to get it going for a little while while I buy all of the parts I want to rebuild the transmission up the way I want. So once the engine and trans mission is out I will be changing all of the major gaskets on the engine and then swapping the transmission for the junkyard one.

Lastly I want to thank everyone on here who has contributed to my research on this project so far and such. I was going to add some pictures of my car and the progress but it seems I cant figure out how to do so(help would be appreciated)
