Cheers from NY! In my early teens I always wanted a GTP, but was never able to get my hands on one. Now in my 30's, I got lucky and picked up an AMAZING steal for $500. 2001 GTP with 120k miles on the car and 46k on the engine. It only needed an intermediate pipe (Sleeve repaired), battery, and full brake job. Got it all repaired, added a new deck, and tinted it. Only need to try and find a Window Switch (D), add a mount to the exhaust as it rusted off (CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK), and figure out the gas gauged that seems to only accurately show when parked for 5 minutes. But I absolutely love this car and can't wait to pick some brains here!

500$ for a run and drive? I wish i could find that around here, that is a steal! The way car prices have been around here, people are asking 1000$ for one with a bad trans.

Sorry about the long delay! I ended up super busy and never got a notice that I had replies!

I got extremely lucky with this find. Basically an older owner (65ish) did very well in his life with stocks, and parked this and an 05 GXP for his new Corvette. Unfortunately he contracted west nile and his driving ceased, so he wanted them out of his garage. In swoops my pops and scoops them both up for $2000.

Still working on her and I have fixed the fuel issue. Luckily Pontiac was nice to us and gave us a Fuel pump hatch behind the back seat. Ordered a fuel pump for 40 on Amazon, wired in the harness and replaced it. Problem solved. Fuel gauge is now accurate and works perfect. Its getting nice here so I am going to take a drive to a few junkyards and see what I can find for the window switch.

As far as using HVAC, I can absolutely use it, It's a bit of a pain in the arse, but it was worth it. Popped in an ATT sim card for unlimited internet for $10 a month and the deck works perfect. Netflix, youtube, streaming music. Also added an amp and 4 new speakers to the vehicle. 6x9 @ 150w RMS each, 5.25 @ 100w RMS each. Sounds beautiful and extremely clear. *And VERY loud if Im having one of those days.* I was going to add a sub, but after hearing how it sounds now, I realized I was no longer 18 needing to rattle the neighbors walls. So I have an amp and 8inch sub just sitting here.

The most recent problem I had was the Alternator actually caught on fire. Car was idling while at work, I went to lock doors before leaving and smelled something burning, I then saw smoke coming from under the hood. Then of course the harness broke so I had to purchase a new one to wire in. But, she was only down a day. Thank god for doing my own work. Car sat for a good 6 years, so there's a lot of little things needing fixing.

My Supercharger bypass valve and blower motor resistor went, so those are the next 2 on my list.

    Cheers everyone!

$500 that was a steal even after the minor work you had to put into it. Looks like it was well kept even after sitting 6 years. Enjoy it and don't be afraid to ask especially when the modding bug bites. There is a vast wealth of knowledge here

Aside from the rockers it's in great shape, and like you said for a running vehicle that only cost me $500 to steal. Not sure how much body I'm going to do to this is I'm quite happy with this just being a daily driver.

I'm in central New York, Syracuse area.
